General Manager and Owner
Amanda Wallis BA (Hons) DPP EYPS

Pumpkins Nursery is owned and managed by Amanda Wallis. Amanda gained a BA (Hons) degree in Psychology from the University College of North Wales where she studied Education as a subsidiary subject. Her career then took a side step into Human Resources where she worked for over twelve years in both the public and the private sectors. Taking time off to raise her family, Amanda then undertook a further course of study to gain the Diploma in Pre-school Practice, a recognised level 3 qualification for early years teaching. Amanda achieved Early Years Professional Status in August 2007 from the University of the West of England.

Amanda has worked with children for many years, both in playgroups and through running her own successful childminding business which was part of the South Gloucestershire “Children Come First” Childminding Network quality assurance scheme. With a proven track record in the delivery of high quality care and education of young children, Amanda has also been heavily involved in community work with children, running activity clubs and also the highly popular “Tiny Tunes” music group at Trinity School, Acton Turville. Amanda lives in Malmesbury and is married to Ian and has three, now grown up children, Ryan, Claudia and Dominic.



Manager – Badminton Nursery
Brenda Say  NNEB  Diploma in Health and Social Care  

Brenda joined Pumpkins in November 2007. Brenda gained an NNEB in 1997 and has over 20 years experience working in Early Years, most notably as Deputy Manager of Cotswold Nursery in Tormarton for 10 years. Brenda has a Diploma in Health and Social Care gained from the Open University in 2000.    

Brenda lives in Yate with her husband Geoff and has two grown up children, Joanna and Matthew and is grandma to Joanna’s three children Rubi,  Aston and Tyler all of whom attended Pumpkins in their early years.

Brenda leads the care and education of the pre-school room and oversees the running of the nursery as a whole. She is also a fully trained Forest School Leader and delivers our highly exciting and motivating Forest School programme. Brenda is the heart and soul of Pumpkins Badminton and delivers exceptional care and education for the children along with her truly dedicated team of staff.



Manager – Tormarton Nursery
Laura Lee  NVQ Level 3/ NVQ Level 4 Management

Laura joined Pumpkins as the Manager of our Tormarton nursery in the Summer term of 2017. Laura started her career in childcare in October 2000 and worked at various nurseries in and around the Bristol area until she moved to Natural Choice Nurseries in the Summer of 2006 and opened their first nursery in Alveston as Nursery Manager. She went on to open their second nursery in Charfield as Area manager and in her last year took on the role of Business Development Manager before joining Pumpkins. Laura has a wealth of nursery experience and is our resident technical expert in charge of e-safety and responsible for our presence on facebook.

Laura lives in Bristol and is married to Dan, with three boys, all under eight; Tyler,  Kobe and Dexter. Laura is thus very attuned to the needs of boys and has bags of experience in engaging and channeling their energies!
